Commitment to Digital Preservation
The Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics (JND) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, integrity, discoverability, and accessibility of its scholarly content. The journal adopts a multi-layered digital preservation strategy to protect the scholarly record against data loss, technical failure, or platform changes.
Digital Archiving and Preservation Infrastructure
JND preserves its published content through secure archiving systems, indexing platforms, and persistent identifier services as outlined below.
1. ATRI Information System (AIS)
The ATRI Information System (AIS) serves as JND’s primary long-term digital archiving platform.
- Long-term digital preservation in stable formats
- Protection against data loss or corruption
- Continued access during platform disruption
2. African Journals Online (AJOL)
As a journal indexed in AJOL, JND deposits and disseminates content through the AJOL platform.
- Additional archiving redundancy
- Enhanced regional and international discoverability
- Long-term access via trusted aggregation services
3. Crossref and Persistent Identifiers
JND is a registered Crossref member. All published articles are assigned DOIs to ensure:
- Persistent linking to scholarly content
- Long-term discoverability and citation tracking
- Integration with global scholarly infrastructure
Open Access and Repository Policy (Green Open Access)
JND supports Green Open Access and allows authors to deposit digital copies of manuscripts without embargo.
Versions Permitted for Self-Archiving
- Preprint: Original manuscript prior to peer review
- Postprint: Peer-reviewed accepted manuscript
- Final Published Version: Version of Record
All versions may be deposited immediately with no embargo period.
